COVID-19 has pushed back the trial against a Menominee County man accused of murdering his adoptive father in 2019. A motion to adjourn the trial for Gary Phillips Donovan who allegedly beat to death 74-year-old Michael Donovan at the victim’s Harris Township home last November, was granted in Menominee County Circuit Court this week. Donovan was charged with open murder, home invasion first degree, and felony murder and his 5-day jury trial was originally set to get underway October 26th. That’s now been rescheduled for April 12 through the 17th of next year and a supplemental pretrial conference in the matter will be held January 19th.
