07/08/2020- The woman accused of hiding her deceased mother’s body for months while continuing to collect the dead woman’s income is expected to make a plea deal in the case. A status conference was held Tuesday in Marinette County Court for 61-year-old Paula Bergold who’s been charged with failure to report a death, obstructing an officer, and hiding a corpse for allegedly placing the body of Ruby Bergold in a storage container in the basement of a Town of Peshtigo home last September and then cashing in on the woman’s Social Security, stock, and dividend payments for as long as four months. During that status conference, the court scheduled a plea hearing for July 28th. Paula Bergold pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and was ordered to undergo a mental health examination earlier this year. If convicted on all three counts, Bergold could face more than a decade in prison.
