One person is dead following police pursuits in Dickinson and Menominee Counties Wednesday. Dickinson County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to serve a civil court document to a 34-year-old man Wednesday afternoon. That individual reportedly sped away from officers in an SUV, traveling through Kingsford, Breitung Township and Norway. Attempts to end the pursuit with stop sticks failed and the individual continued east on US-2 until he reached the Menominee County line. Menominee County deputies joined in the pursuit around 4:30 p.m. and at that point, the suspect was driving a pickup truck and warned officers he was armed. The man led Menominee County deputies back into Dickinson County on M-69. Stop sticks were again deployed east of Mattson Road. Deputies say the suspect ran over the sticks and drove off the road and into a farm field, before colliding into some trees. Law enforcement set up a perimeter around the vehicle, attempting to get the man to voluntarily give himself up, but the suspect didn’t respond, and reportedly died by suicide. No other details have been released and an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
