The Marinette County Development Committee is recommending to the County Board that the Tourism Alliance Committee be eliminated.  The Committee itself made that recommendation when they met last week.  The committee was advisory only and made up of people representing various tourism interests in the county.  Recently the county has hired a tourism director and tourism program assistant which is changing how the county is handling tourism.  Supervisor Bonnie Popp who has been chairing the Tourism Alliance said it was originally created to get representation from the smaller communities and to help the larger organizations who do their own advertising know what the county was planning for tourism promotion. She says going forward, there still needs to be communication between those parties and the county.    The full county board will consider the recommendation to eliminate the tourism alliance when they meet later this month.
