07/27/2020- A Marinette County man who went missing in June has been found dead in Michigan’s Alger County. 66-year-old Jimmy Willey of Beecher was last seen in the Upper Peninsula June 6th and authorities in both Michigan and Wisconsin had few leads on the man’s whereabouts since. Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve now reports that last Thursday, his department was contacted by the Michigan State Police, informing him they’d found Willey’s van containing human remains which have since been positively identified as Willey’s. The van was discovered stuck in a swampy remote trail off Chapel Road near County Road H58 in Munising Township, more than 120 miles from Willey’s home. Sheriff Sauve says exactly why Willey traveled to that area is unknown.

It’s also not known how long Willey’s van had been stuck on that trail before being discovered. The cause of death remains under investigation, but Sheriff Suave says no foul play is suspected.
