05/05/2020- Whether or not they wholly agree with it, residents and business owners in Marinette County have been largely compliant with Governor Evers’ Safer at Home executive order, according to the Marinette County Sheriff. With multiple extensions of the order and the onset of spring, though, people are starting to get a bit restless. Sheriff Jerry Sauve says that’s to be expected, but he’s asking for the public’s continued cooperation, as that plays a major factor on when this statewide shut down can be lifted.
Sheriff Suave says since the order went into effect in March, his department has only had to issue one citation for its violation following repeated warnings. The fine for that type of violation is substantial and Sauve says it’s something local law enforcement is trying to avoid doing.
Wisconsin’s Safer at Home order is currently set to run through May 26th.
