Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve says twice this week his office enlisted the help of the Brown-Outagamie County Bomb Squad to detonate dangerous blasting caps.

The first incident happened on Army Lane in the Town of Stephenson while the second was on Van Ginkel Road In the Town of Niagara and involved 90 blasting caps in an outbuilding.  The sheriff says there is no current threat as the dangerous materials were disposed of by professionals.

The Sheriff is asking the public to be aware of the danger of any suspicious or potentially dangerous explosive devices discovered while cleaning outbuildings and surrounding property. Older devices and dynamite are known to be unstable and volatile.

If you come across any such items, please call the Marinette County Dispatch Center at 715-732-7627.
