A public hearing on a request for a Special Use Permit for a potential marijuana retailer was pulled from the Menominee Planning Commission Agenda Tuesday at the request of the applicant.  First Property Holdings was seeking the Special Use Permit for the former restaurant property at 2110 10th Street. That property is in a C2 zoned district, where marijuana sales are allowed only as a special use.  Prior to the public hearing, the city received letters from some residents of the Sunrise Cove Condos which are located behind the property in question, expressing extreme concerns about allowing a marijuana dispensary at that location, especially in regards to the amount of traffic the business is likely to generate, based upon similar businesses elsewhere in the U P.  The applicants requested a one-time adjournment of the public hearing to allow for review of the application and to gather more information. The adjournment would allow the public hearing to be rescheduled in the future.
