The Menominee Parks and Recreation Committee is getting closer to making a final recommendation for replacement of playground equipment at Watertower Park. The 25 year old equipment at the playground has deteriorated to the point of being unsafe and no longer meets current ADA standards. Last month the committee heard proposals from two vendors. City Hall staff is recommending the design concept offered by Burke Lee, a Wisconsin based vendor. The estimated cost would be around $125,000, which could be funded by the Klar bequest made to the city’s recreation department and library. The committee is recommending staff move forward with finalizing the design and to get references and inspect similar sites done by the vendor. The plan is to install the equipment this July. The city will be looking for businesses and other volunteers to help with the installation of the new playground if the playground receives city council approval.
