At a public listening session Wednesday, the Wisconsin DNR reiterated some facts they made in a statement on Monday regarding the Class Action Settlement made between some property owners and Tyco over the PFAS contamination of wells in the Town of Peshtigo. Christine Haag, Program Director says the DNR is not a party to the settlement…

Haig also said the DNR believes Tyco is the responsible party for the expanded site investigation area which is beyond the area which Tyco has acknowledged contains water contamination caused by PFAS from their Fire Test Center.  With Tyco so far not agreeing to do testing or providing emergency replacement water to property owners with affected wells in the expanded area, the WDNR has been doing that themselves.

So far the DNR has tested 307 wells in the expanded area.  14 of those wells had PFAS levels exceeding the DNR’s recommended enforcement standard. 216 other wells showed some detection, but below the recommended enforcement standard.  The DNR is resuming well testing in the expanded area this month.
