11/20/2018- The man accused of crashing his car into a power pole, causing a widespread outage in Menominee last month has been convicted. 40-year-old Daniel Nicklaus pleaded no contest to breaking and entering with intent in Menominee County Court. He had initially been charged with unlawful driving away of a vehicle and malicious destruction of property after he allegedly crashed his car into a utility pole on 18th Street in Menominee, fled the scene of that accident, and then broke into the nearby WPS building and stole one of their vehicles, crashing it a short time later. Nicklaus was found unconscious behind the wheel and taken into custody. He’s due back in court for his sentencing hearing December 7th.
