Fincantieri Marinette Marine has hosted numerous Trump Administration officials over the past twelve months including another yesterday. National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien toured the shipyard Monday and delivered remarks to employees about the Administration’s plan to rapidly and dramatically increase the size and capability of the U.S. Navy. O’Brien says that effort could lead to the Navy contracting with other shipyards in the country for frigate construction, but Marinette Marine will still play an integral role in the upsizing.

In addition to building more warships, the Administration is also focusing on increasing the amount of domestically sourced materially that’s put in to them. In fact, O’Brien says the second FFG(X) is expected to be 100% made in the U.S. Congressman Mike Gallagher says both those initiatives are not only good for Marinette Marine, but the entire regional economy.

O’Brien applauded the shipbuilders who continued their work despite the coronavirus pandemic. O’Brien was also joined Monday by Dr. Peter Navarro, White House Director of Trade and Manufacturing Policy
