12/09/2019- Representative John Nygren is calling on Tyco to take a new approach toward investigating PFAS contamination impacting our area- and to do it quickly. The Marinette Republican sent a letter to company representatives saying he’s heard from residents who are disappointed the company’s submittal of a Biosolids Land Spreading Investigation Work Plan to the DNR came more than two months after the initial deadline and furthermore, that the proposed plan- which would have the DNR oversee the first phase of investigation into contamination on farm fields rather than Tyco- is “seemingly a written version of a concept DNR leadership summarily rejected during a conference call October 15th.” Nygren says Tyco’s insistence on this method is impeding on efforts to determine the extent of contamination. The DNR is still in the process of reviewing the work plan submitted to them last month, but Nygren holds little confidence the proposal will be approved, which he feels would create further uncertainty and delays surrounding PFAS remediation projects.
