03/05/2020- Four new HOPE Agenda bills authored by Representative John Nygren have been signed into Wisconsin law. Nygren says these latest additions will expand access to safe and reliable recovery housing, ensure state employees protections while undergoing medication-assisted treatment, and remove barriers to Recovery Coaches, among other initiatives. Assembly Bills 648 and 651, which would expand access to non-addictive pain treatment and continue portions of the Good-Samaritan law are still awaiting a floor vote in the Senate. The four new bills bring the total number of pieces of legislation by the Marinette Republican aimed at combating substance abuse that have been approved to 34. Nygren says there was a 10-percent decreased in opioid related deaths in the state last year and opioid prescriptions continue to fall dramatically.
