05/03/2019- The City of Oconto is joining others in the region taking a preemptive stance on the legalization of marijuana. The City recently enacted a ban on shops that would sell marijuana and related paraphernalia. While the ordinance does not address possession or use of the drug and because pot is still illegal in Wisconsin, officials are using the move as a way to get ahead of the game, as they and many others anticipate changes in the state law. The City of Marinette and Florence County already have similar bans against pot shops in place.
