07/11/2018–At a Marinette County Public Services Committee meeting, several members of the Marinette Sheriff’s Department and Peshtigo Police were honored by the FBI for their help in apprehending a serial bank robber last August. Devontae Amos was already wanted in connection with a bank robbery and two armed robberies in southeast Wisconsin when he allegedly robbed the MBank in Stephenson on August 25th, 2017. He was also wanted by the FBI after allegedly fleeing the scene where a Federal search warrant was being executed in Milwaukee Amos was apprehended in the city of Marinette following a search involving many local law enforcement agencies in both Michigan and Wisconsin. Special Agent in Charge of the Milwaukee FBI Office Justin Tolomeo says local partnerships are important in allowing the FBI to do its mission.
The Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Office Tim Slater was also among 5 FBI agents at the meeting to help present the letters of appreciation to the officers. Some Members of the Marinette Police Department had previously been honored.
At the same meeting, Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve presented a Life-Saving award to Deputy Zac Albrecht who is credited with saving the life of a man overdosing on heroin in a Peshtigo motel room on June 13th. The commendation states Albrecht assessed the situation and administered two doses of Narcan to stabilize the unconscious man until paramedics arrived to take over. Sauve says this is the first case of a life being saved since his deputies were given Narcan to carry with them for treating heroin overdoses.
