05/20/2019- Veterans will have a new option for urgent care treatment under a new initiative being rolled out by the Oscar G Johnson VA Medical Center. It’s called the VA Community Care Program and it’s part of the MISSION Act signed by President Trump in 2018. Brad Nelson is the Public Affairs Officer with the Iron Mountain-based VA. He says one of the biggest changes is, for the first time ever, vets will be able to seek urgent care at a non-VA facility.
To explain this new benefit and others, the Oscar G Johnson VA is holding a public presentation and question and answer session on Thursday, May 30th at Bay College West in Iron Mountain. For those that cannot attend in person, the presentation will be streamed live on the medical center’s Facebook page and will be available for later viewing. The presentation begins at 5:00 PM Central.
