02/22/2019- A Wausaukee man is arraigned in Marinette County Court on repeat drunk driving charges. 63-year-old John Demarais is facing felony counts of OWI 7th, 8th, or 9th, 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, and 2nd+ Offense of Possession of THC following an incident that occurred last September outside of Wausaukee Bowl. Demarais and another man are believed to have gotten into a verbal argument at the bar there and, after the two left, Demarais allegedly struck the other man with his truck before driving off. The incident was caught on surveillance camera and when officers arrived at Demarais’ house, they say they could smell the odor of alcohol and marijuana. Demarais consented to a blood draw, the results of which show he had a blood alcohol content of 0.26. He stood mute at his arraignment Thursday and the court entered not guilty pleas on his behalf. Demarais has seven previous OWI convictions and one for operating with a prohibited alcohol concentration. He’s due back in court for a status conference March 25th.
