02/15/2019- Marinette County’s OWI Task Force has been effective at keeping more impaired drivers off the roads, but there’s a downside to that success. The program is funded by a state grant and because the county is seeing fewer drunk and drugged driving accidents, they’ve now been cut from the list of those eligible to receive grant funding for the current two-year cycle.
Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve says while the task force and dedicated enforcement events are no longer, his department will continue to be vigilant in apprehending drunk and drugged drivers. The OWI Task Force was a joint venture between the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Marinette Police Department.
