02/06/2020- Wisconsinites have the chance to weigh in on new PFAS legislation drafted by lawmakers representing our region this week. The state’s Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee will hold a public hearing Friday morning on Senate Bills 772 and 773 sponsored by Senator Dave Hansen and co-sponsored by Representative John Nygren which relate to PFAS standards and grant programs, providing blood testing for certain individuals, providing funding related to PFAS programs and positions, among other initiatives. Senate Bills 774 and 775 and will also receive a public hearing at that time. Those measures address extending the time limit for emergency rule procedures, PFAS management zones and related funding, and creating a municipal grant program for PFAS testing. They were introduced by Senators Rob Cowles and Jerry Petrowski and co-sponsored by several state Representatives, including Representative Jeff Mursau.
