06/18/2019- Wisconsin’s Governor is promising regional coordination to fight PFAS contamination that threatens freshwater resources under a resolution passed last week at the annual Conference of Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers’ Leadership Summit. As chair of the 2019 conference, Governor Evers introduced the resolution that addresses these so-called “forever chemicals”, saying a strong environment translates into a strong economy, and that includes clean, safe water for every citizen. That resolution commits Great Lakes governors to participating in efforts by the EPA to encourage the sharing of PFAS-related information both within the US and with Canada, as well as urging the EPA to expedite the implementation of their PFAS Action Plan, which requires the development of a national maximum contaminant level for PFAS. The Conference of Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Governors and Premiers unite the chief executives from eight Great Lakes states, as well as Ontario, and Québec.
