03/27/2020- As it stands now, the 2020 Waterfront Festival in Downtown Menominee will go on as planned. Preparations for the August event are well underway according to festival director Nancy Douglas, who remains hopeful that the COVID-19 crisis will be over by late summer and the festival can move forward. The committee met in February and discussed basic issues like the budget, format, dates and activities. While the committee won’t formally meet again until April, members are still hard at work to bring the many individual aspects of the festival together. Food Booth and Parade applications will be available to community members and organizations shortly after the April meeting. Given the current state of affairs, Douglas says she feels a community celebration might be more important this year than ever.
