07/10/2019- Marinette’s parks will remain open to four-legged visitors for the time being. Common Council considered a recommendation from the Parks and Recreation Committee Tuesday to ban dogs from all of the city’s parks following recurring complaints about people not cleaning up after their pets. However, that proposal didn’t sit well with many resident pet owners who say it’s the few ruining it for the many. Shannon Bennett says the city needs to up the signage, education, and enforcement of the penalties associated with not picking up dog waste.
Alderperson Rick Polzin brought the original dog ban proposal to the committee level. But, he says he could be in favor of less severe solutions. ”
Common Council took no action on the recommendation and instead referred it back to the Parks and Rec committee for further consideration at their August meeting.
