06/21/2019- A Wausaukee man will serve prison time for a repeat drunk driving conviction. 64-year-old John Demarais was ordered six years’ initial confinement followed by five years of extended supervision his eighth OWI, as well as another year each of prison time and extended supervision for Possession of THC. He was arrested last September following an incident that occurred outside of Wausaukee Bowl. The incident was caught on surveillance camera and when officers arrived at Demarais’ house, they say they could smell the odor of alcohol and marijuana. Demarais consented to a blood draw, the results of which show he had a blood alcohol content of 0.26. A charge of first degree recklessly endangering safety was dismissed but read in at his sentencing Thursday. Demarais will receive credit for 211 days already served.
