02/12/2019- As another winter storm rolls in, it’s important to keep more than just your sidewalk clear of snow and ice. Residents and business owners in Marinette with fire hydrants on or near their properties are being reminded to maintain a three-foot clearance around these structures throughout the winter season. Marinette Fire Department Assistant Chief Steve Campbell says a few extra minutes of your time means firefighters can spend more of their time where they’re needed most.
Campbell stresses it’s necessary to remove snow and ice building all the way around the hydrant, not just on one side of it. Anyone who see a fire hydrant that is buried in an area that has no nearby residences is asked to either take the time to clear it themselves or contact the Fire Department so it can be taken care of.
