08/14/2019- An annual event in honor of a former resident means more wishes will come true for Michigan kids battling life-threatening illnesses. 44 boats took part in the 2019 Joey Shepro Memorial Doublehanded Sailboat Race in Menominee last weekend. Organizers say the M&M community came out in force, donating silent auction items, volunteering time, and generously giving to Make-A-Wish Michigan, with a total of almost $25000 being raised. That amount will fully fund four seriously ill children’s wishes. The 13-mile sailboat race is the largest on Green Bay and memorializes Joey Shepro, an avid sailor who died of a brain tumor in 1995 at the age of 17. The race was hosted by the M&M Yacht Club and the Shepro family and contributions can still be made by contacting Joe Shepro at (906) 290-3094.
