09/25/2020- A group of people- including one woman who lived through the experience- are teaming up to raise awareness of human trafficking in our area. The Save Our Children march is being held tomorrow in Marinette advocating for an end to the sex trade industry. Andrea Milatzo is one of the event organizers. She once found herself in a human trafficking situation and will share her story with participants prior to the march.
In July Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul advised residents to be alert to potential human trafficking increases during the current health crisis. Social and physical isolation and economic insecurity can contribute to the susceptibility of victims and human traffickers use that to their advantage. Milatzo encourages people- particularly women- to maintain constant awareness of their surroundings
Tomorrow’s march begins at the Community REC Center at 10:30 and participants will travel down Pierce Avenue and then toward the Interstate Bridge.
