Marinette’s Parks and Recreation Committee gets a status update on the City’s new community rec center. Gavin Scray, Executive Director of Recreation and Events says the meeting rooms, locker rooms, bathrooms, and ice arena are all at or near completion. He adds the electrical and data systems have been installed, as well. While the turf has yet to be installed, crews have already been working on making ice in the facility and Scray is hopeful guests will be able to test it out for their grand opening.
The rec center’s opening had originally been slated for March, but severe winter weather and construction issues pushed that date back to sometime in June.
