05/03/2019- The former Little Chute teacher accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl during a trip to Marinette County is considering finding new counsel. A pre-trial conference was held Thursday for 46-year-old Jason Lavigne who’s facing one count of 3rd degree sexual assault for allegedly giving alcohol to a 16-year-old girl and then assaulting her during a trip to a cabin in the Town of Stephenson in June of 2018. Court records show Lavigne has talked with his current attorney Frank Stupak to withdraw as counsel and the court is now giving him until Monday to decide if he wants a different attorney. Lavigne’s three-day jury trial is scheduled to begin May 22nd. Just last week a jury in Outagamie County found Lavigne guilty of sexually assaulting a student nearly 20 years ago. Those allegations didn’t come to light until he was charged with the assault in Marinette County last summer. His sentencing in that case is set for June 25th.
