05/10/2019- The lights are on and Marinette County’s youth group home is already nearing capacity. County Health and Human Services Director Robin Elsner told the HHS Board Wednesday there are six juveniles being housed at the Share Academy at this time. The group home can hold a maximum of eight and they could reach that limit when two more Marinette County juveniles are transferred in from the high-cost facilities they’re currently at. Share Academy opened last month after the building was purchased by Marinette County in 2018 when the previous care provider, Marinette County Group Home Association, backed out. The county established a new contract for services with Advocates for Healthy Transitional Living and renamed the facility Share Academy. Renovations were completed by county staff at the group home and the Share Academy was expected to open by the end of 2018, however, delays in the state licensure process pushed that back to April.
