12/06/2018- There’s a hold-up in opening Marinette County’s juvenile care home. Share Academy, formerly Crossroads, was expected to open its eight-bed facility by December 1st. County Health and Human Services Director Robin Elsner says the group home license for care provider Advocates for Healthy Transitional Living was delayed when the state required them to first receive fire and occupancy permits for the home. Although the delay means juveniles will remain in other high-cost placement facilities for longer than anticipated, Elsner says County Facilities Director Martin Keyport has used the time to complete some much-needed renovations at the Share Academy.
Those fire and occupancy permits have been received and Advocates has submitted their license application to the state. Elsner anticipates the Share Academy will now open by the end of the year.
