01/14/2019- The facility upgrades are complete, but Marinette County’s Share Academy is still awaiting final state approval before it can begin accepting residents. The youth group home was initially expected to open sometime last December, but the licensure process has taken longer than anticipated. Marinette County Health and Human Services Director Robin Elsner says the county was informed last week of an additional piece of documentation that needed to be submitted and the application is now in que for state review. Share Academy will be an 8-bed group home run by Advocates for Healthy Transitional Living. Marinette County contracted with the care provider for their services when the Group Home Association backed out of their agreement with the county last year. Elsner says the county has identified two juveniles for immediate placement the Share Academy once it opens and he expects five or six in total by this spring.
