01/28/2020- An armed suicidal man is in custody following an hours-long search Sunday night. Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve reports that on Sunday evening his department was contacted about a man who reportedly made suicidal statements to a friend and was believed to be located in McClintock Park in Silver Cliff. Deputies found his car parked at the park with partial ammunition boxes inside and then began a search for the man that lasted until mid-morning Monday. The 52-year-old from Athelstane was located in the woods more than two miles from his vehicle. Once found, he did eventually put down the weapons in his possession and was taken into protective custody. The incident remains under investigation and the Sheriff’s Department reports no one was injured.
