08/20/2019- There’s still enough summer left for one big celebration in Marinette County. The Marinette County Fair kicks off this Thursday in Wausaukee, welcoming in as many as 30000 people from throughout the region for four days of great food, exciting carnival rides, and impressive displays and exhibits. Jessica Markiewicz is the Fair Treasurer and says while they’re known for their grandstand entertainment, there are a few new features for guests to check out this year.
“On Saturday we are actually having Cookies with the Queen. That’s kind of a fun, new event that we’ve set up for the kids. They’ll be able to decorate cookies with the Wisconsin Fairest of the Fair. On Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00, we are going to have some Paw Patrol characters at the fair…The third new thing that we’re doing this year is something called the Butterfly Effect. It’ll actually be a butterfly tent that’s set up at the fair and people will be able to go in and walk around with the butterflies.”
The Marinette County Fair has been a summer staple for nearly a century now and Markiewicz says their secret to continued success is their ability to grow and adapt with the times.
The cost to attend to the Marinette County Fair is $5 for a day pass or $15 for the entire weekend. The fair runs through Sunday and a full schedule of events can be found at marinettecountyfair.com.
