10/31/2018- An influx of donations has the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry in Marinette well-stocked. The Scout food drive in October brought in about 400 pounds of non-perishable food for the pantry- enough to serve visitors’ needs for an entire week. The food pantry also received more than 800 pounds of fresh produce from Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin as part of a grant opportunity through their partnership with United Healthcare. St. Vincent de Paul says these donations come at a time when food supplies at the pantry are lower than usual due to the temporary closure of Marinette’s Aldi store. Aldi, like other grocers in the area, regularly makes donations to the food pantry through a program with Feeding America to prevent food waste and help end hunger. The St. Vincent de Paul food pantry is the largest in the area and sees over 1000 visits each month.
