06/18/2019-Local schools could see significant state funding increases under budget recommendations by Wisconsin’s Joint Finance Committee. Representative John Nygren of Marinette serves as Committee Co-Chair and says the budget put forth includes an additional $1.7-million for the Marinette School District, $800-thousand for the Peshtigo School District, $500-thousand for Coleman Schools, and another $313-thousand for students in the Lena School District. The budget boosts overall school funding by $500-million and the Joint Finance Committee also approved the $200 per-pupil increase in the budget’s first year and $204 increase in the second year as was proposed by Governor Tony Evers. The state budget is expected to be signed by the Governor by June 30th.
