04/08/2019- It’s Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin and safety officials say it’s a good time to make sure you and your family are prepared. The National Weather Service is conducting a statewide tornado drill on many radio, television, and cable channels this Thursday, April 11th with a mock Tornado Watch issued at 1:00 PM and a mock Tornado Warning at 1:45 PM. A second mock warning will be issued at 6:45 PM. Wisconsin averages 23 tornadoes per year. The “average” Wisconsin tornado has a 7 to 8- minute duration, a path length of about 4 to 5 miles, and a damage width of about 120 yards.
