05/23/2019- It won’t be long now until kids are running off to the pool or the lake, and the M-and-M Area Community Foundation is helping to make sure more of them are safe when doing so. The Foundation partnered with Stephenson Area Public Schools to provide a “Safety Around Water” program for all Stephenson fourth graders. Under the program, free lessons will be provided to students by the Greater Marinette-Menominee YMCA to teach children about safety in and around water, including the use of life jackets and rescue techniques. It’s being funded by a grant the Community Foundation applied for and received from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund.
