12/05/2018- Marinette’s REC Center is nearing completion, but the city has yet to reach a resolution with Scherrer Construction, the company in charge of the project when many of its major delays occurred. City Council discussed in closed session a negotiation strategy regarding REC Center disputes Tuesday night. Coming out of that, the council approved a motion for Boldt Construction, who was awarded the panel replacement work earlier this year, to complete construction management for the entire project. Marinette Mayor Steve Genisot says the City and its outside counsel are still working on a settlement with Sherrer.
As for the current panel replacement work happening on site, Genisot says Boldt is making good progress.
The panel replacement is expected to be complete by December 14th. After that’s wrapped up, crews still need to finish some secondary projects including floor coverings in the tennis area and gutter installation. Genisot is hopeful the entire facility will be finished by the end of the month.
