06/25/2019- A new initiative by the American Red Cross aims to raise awareness about critical gaps they’re facing in available blood supplies across the country. They recently launched the Missing Types campaign to talk more about their unmet need for blood and discuss how blood donations help save lives daily. During the summer, especially around holidays like Independence Day, donations often don’t keep pace with demand. Residents can help keep blood banks stocked locally at several blood drives in the coming weeks. The first is this Thursday, June 27th at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Menominee. There’s also one Friday, June 28th at the Pine Tree Mall in Marinette and another will be held July 5th at the mall. Blood drives are also planned for July 12th at First Baptist Church in Peshtigo, and the 15th and 16th at Holy Family Parish in Marinette.
