46-year-old Scott Mathis faces two counts of homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. On June 2nd, a crash happened at the intersection of Highway B and W in the town of Grover, between Peshtigo and Coleman. The crash resulted in the death of 49-year-old Elysia Kust and her passenger, 73-year-old Ann Kust, both of Coleman. According to the criminal complaint, witnesses told officers on scene that Mathis ran a stop sign at the intersection. Mathis told deputies he was driving south on County W. When his phone went off. He reached down to grab it and when he looked up; he had run the stop sign, and struck another vehicle, the complaint reads. They set a $2,500 signature bond. Court records show Mathis returns to court on July 31st for a preliminary hearing and arraignment.
