Hundreds of Fishermen will take to the waters this weekend for the M and M Great Lakes Sport Fishermen’s annual Brown Trout Derby. Now in its 41st year, the derby also features raffles and food provided by the American Legion Post 146. Tom Lawson, Chairman of the Brown Trout Derby, says, “there is one significant change this year that everyone should know.”

Lawson says, “there is no age restriction to fish but every person in the boat must have a fishing ticket.”

The 41st Annual Brown Trout Derby takes place this weekend at Marina Park in Menominee. The fishing begins at 4:30pm both days. Saturday you must be in line by 7:00pm and Sunday by 3:00pm. As in previous years, it is one fish, per species, per day. All proceeds from the Brown Trout Derby go towards funding two other annual community fishing events; the Kids Fishing Derby and the Heads-Up Fishing Derby. Community members are welcome to take part in raffles and support the anglers. For the weekend, there will be no launch fees required in Marinette, Menominee, or at Little River.
