The City of Marinette is once again trying to determine what to do with the Duer Gym. The property which was conveyed to the city in 1953 has long been a staple of activities for children and adults alike. In 2019 it was decided by city council to close its doors due to the newly constructed Community REC Center along with the rising costs of running the building. Alderperson Rick Polzin says, “we’ve already decided that we are not going to use it so we should try and sell it to somebody.”

Currently, Marinette County nor the City are interested in the property therefore the Parks and Recreation Committee is looking at the possibility of putting the Duer Gym up for bid in the very near future. If you are interested in the property, you can contact the Mayor’s Office at 715-732-5139.
