The McDonald Family, with deep appreciation and nostalgia, announces the culmination of a 15 – year philanthropic journey with the upcoming 2024 Lyle “Chummy” McDonald Memorial Hockey Tournament. This final chapter will serve as a grand celebration of community spirit, hockey passion, and a legacy of support for M&M Thunder youth hockey. Nancy McDonald says, “our memorial fund at the M&M Community Foundation. What we do with the money that is raised is we give out grants to children to help them register to play hockey.”

McDonald says, “it’s a three – day hockey tournament. We have 98 registered and they are all drafted into six – teams. It will be a Round Robin style game.

While acknowledging the bittersweet decision to conclude the tournament after 2024, the McDonald Family believes it is the right time to gracefully retire from this charitable endeavor. The tournament has left an indelible mark on the local community, offering opportunities and support for countless athletes. The McDonald Family invites the community to join in making this year’s Lyle McDonald Memorial Hockey Tournament a grand finale, celebrating the legacy and support, camaraderie, and the enduing spirit of youth hockey. The tournament starts on Friday, March 22nd and ends on Sunday, March 24th at the Community REC Center on Pierce Ave in Marinette.
