A hearing on motions to dissolve the November 3rd Temporary Restraining Order that resulted in the shutdown of three marijuana dispensaries in Menominee lasted for 4 hours Friday afternoon and into the evening but yielded no answers. The hearing will continue today via zoom at 9am.
Judge Mary Barglind issued the Temporary Restraining Order in 41st Circuit Court to enforce a preliminary injunction issued September 26th and clarification dated October 17th that dispensaries not actually open and operating by September 26th at 1pm, could not continue to operate. According to lawyers representing plaintiffs, The Firestation and Rize, the original two licensees within the city, Lume; Nirvana; and Higher Love allegedly began operating their businesses after the September 26th date. Testimony was taken as to if that was true. Those three businesses were closed after the Temporary Restraining Order was issued and they quickly filed motions seeking to reverse the closings.
