The curtain goes up for the debut of Theatre on the Bay’s latest production, Urinetown, the Musical, next week. Director John Thornberry says one of the show’s writers was inspired to write the musical after a trip to Europe where he found himself continually coming up short for funds to pay to use public restrooms. Urinetown, a satirical comedy, takes that scenario to the extreme.
Thornberry says the audience will likely recognize some of the faces on the stage as the Urinetown cast is made up of many Theater on the Bay veterans. Thonberry himself is no stranger to the theater. He’s directed and starred in several TOB productions and he talks more about what preparing for the upcoming musical involves.
Urinetown, the Musical will be performed at the Herbert L Williams Theater on UW-Marinette’s campus July 13th through the 15th and 20th through the 22nd. Tickets are available online at marinette.uw.edu or at the box office one hour prior to show time.
