A lot has changed in Marinette County in recent years, but one thing remains the same. Tourism is big business in our area and year after year, travelers seek out Marinette County for its family-friendly atmosphere and the chance to get outside This week is National Tourism Week and Judy Alwin, manager of the Marinette Welcome Center, says the great outdoors is one of the county’s greatest resources.
Alwin estimates the regional tourism industry has grown nearly 40-percent in the last seven years and that’s bringing people in to the local area from all over the country.
Alwin says in just the first five months of this year, the Marinette Welcome Center has seen more than 4300 visitors. The most popular months for local tourism are July and August.
