Dark Billowing Smoke could be seen for miles from a fire yesterday afternoon in a pile of scrap metal and vehicles on fire at Sal B Scrap Metal Recycling just outside of the City of Marinette in the Town of Peshtigo at Highway 64 and County T.  Mike Folgert, Fire Chief for the Town of Peshtigo described what the firefighters were faced as they arrived

With a crane operating trying to pull it apart to get to the fire, Folgert says firefighters were trying to protect the building and protect the piles that are not burning. Strong winds also started a grass fire.  The heavy smoke caused some nearby evacuations and forced closure of the  nearby roundabout, which caused traffic tieups.

The roundabout has since reopened and the fire has been extinguished.
