01/14/2019- The consolidation plan for Associated Banc-Corp and Huntington National Bank will result in the closure of 17 bank locations in Wisconsin, including two locally. Associated announced the purchase of 32 branches from Ohio-based Huntington in December for around $34-million. The company is now expected to close 11 Huntington locations and six of Associated’s once the deal is complete. Among those being shut down are the Associated Bank on Pierce Avenue in Marinette, which will consolidate with the Huntington Bank on Roosevelt Road, and the Huntington branch in Lena, consolidating with the Associated Branch located in Oconto Falls. The transaction will likely be complete in the first half of this year. It has not been announced yet just when the selected branches will close.
