03/10/2020- Authorities with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are still searching for information about who is behind the poisoning deaths of animals in Florence, Forest, and Marinette Counties. The investigation began last year, but two more dogs recently died in Forest County of suspected poisoning. Investigators say in most cases, the animals became severely ill almost immediately after eating the poison and died soon after. In addition to domestic dogs, investigators have also found dead raptors, coyotes, weasels, raccoons and wolves. Lab tests have confirmed the presence of toxic substances in these animals, but officials have not yet did not specified which substances were found. Pet owners are recommended to keep their pets on leashes to avoid them getting too far off the roadway and into any possible poison. A $1000 is still being offered for information on the matter and tips can be submitted through the Wisconsin DNR by calling or texting 1-800-TIP-WDNR.
